Carbon Day is one of the only events celebrated around the globe by people of all backgrounds, faiths and nationalities.Carbon Day’s Mission Statement PLAY A PART Inevitably, when going about our daily lives — commuting, sheltering our families, eating — each of us contributes to the greenhouse gas emissions that are causing climate change. Yet, there are many things each of us, as individuals, can do to reduce our carbon emissions. The choices we make in our homes, our travel, the food we eat, and what we buy and throw away all influence our carbon footprint and if we become conscious of these choices, we can help ensure a stable climate for future generations. We pursue our mission through education, politics, events, and consumer activism. This makes it easy for each of us to Play A Part

Carbon Day’s programs and activities are guided by the following goals:

Promote Local Engagement— Carbon Day works with partner organizations to provide opportunities for all citizens to become active at the local, state, national and global levels.

Environmental Education Programs — Carbon Day’s Sustainability Within a Generation program seeks to green all of America’s K-12 schools within a generation. Green schools save money, conserve energy and water, and have better performing and healthier students. Carbon Day uses innovative education tools to promote civic participation and to develop a sense of environmental responsibility among all citizens.

Inspire and engage college students to become environmental leaders — Carbon Day’s College Programs seeks to grow the size, diversity, and strength of the environmental community in colleges and universities around the world. Through targeted campaigns on the local and national levels and a wide variety of campus-based activism Carbon Day on Campus lets the environmental leaders of tomorrow take action and raise the awareness that will sustain them for life.
