When is Carbon Day celebrated?

Carbon Day is celebrated around the world on September 15, although larger events such as festivals and rallies are often organized for the weekends before or after September 15.

Why Carbon Day?

Because each of us need to PLAY A PART! Carbon Day broadens the base of support for environmental programs, builds activism around the world through a wide array of events and activities geared towards a singular message of how to lower our carbon footprint.

What can I do for Carbon Day?

Since the first Carbon Day, Carbon Day has been an annual event for people around the world to celebrate the reduction of each individuals and businesses carbon footprint. There are many ways you can Play a Part. Volunteer. Plant a Tree.  Go to an event. Install solar panels on your roof or a solar hot water heater in your home. Organize an event where you live. Change a habit. Help launch a community garden. Communicate your priorities to your elected representatives. The possibilities are endless! Do something nice for the earth, have fun, meet new people, and Play a Part.

And you do not need to wait until September 15 to Play a Part. Every day is Carbon Day — to build a better future for the environment we must commit to protect our environment on a year-round basis. You’ll find many ways to get involved in the events section of our website.

What is Carbon Day

Carbon Day is a very special day specifically designed for all of us to think about environmental issue’s. It is not only a special day in the town where we live, but a day that the whole world participates in! Often there are celebrations, events or campaigns that help us understand environmental issues.  Whether it is planting a tree or learning simple steps for each of us to lower our Carbon Footprint.

Some towns have Carbon Day celebrations, and some people and groups hold events that are carbon neutral.

You can participate in one of the existing projects, or start one of your own. Perhaps a small project with your mom or dad such as planting a tree, or a large project with your classroom or neighborhood friends such as a park clean up or having your school, business or home go carbon neutral for the day. The possibilities are endless. Try to think of something you would like to do-you too, can make a difference!
